I love his comment about how we are frontally focussed as a society. There is no question about how much that links up to images we see in the media - how often do we watch a movie with the glam people conducting the action backwards? Nope! Just goes to show how non-sensical it is to focus on the body's looks (sure, it can be a nice icing on the cake), when the FUNctional strength is where we really come to be able to move in the world.
I was thinking about this after the workout yesterday too, because I realized that I forgot to start focussing on my core when I started to have trouble with the pushups at the end. Pushups are such a deceiving activity. No doubt it takes shoulder, chest and arm strength, but not in isolation! I always can knock out more and better pushups when engaging my core. The idea that any of our muscles are separate from each other is so silly, cause we couldn't move without having them all connected!
