March 1 kicks off our 6 week paleo living challenge.
Anyone can sign up. The winner will get a $100.00 gift certificate for The Willow Restaurant. I chose the Willow because they use a lot of local, pasture raised and finished meat. It is also a culinary delight!
You do paleo for 6 weeks, beginning Monday, March 1st and ending April 12th.
Your final score will be based on the following:
1. inches lost around the midsection.
2. paleo spirit (commenting on blog, finding new recipes, etc).
3. performance comparison of Grace.
4. Those who take part in the challenge will vote on the winner.
Great idea Darci! I'm in!!!
ReplyDeleteBrenda has signed up too.
ReplyDeleteI'm in, but I won't be able to have anyone witness my measurements or start paleo until the 3rd...if that's ok, I'm in :)
ReplyDeleteOk Helen,
ReplyDeleteWe are using the honour system anyway.
Have fun in the sun!
Is there Paleo beer? Hot tubbing will be very boring for six weeks unless I can find Paleo beer, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm in for sure! This will be great!

Calling all "paleo people"..... In preparation for my victory of the Big Challange..(ha ha) i am looking for some paleo snack suggestions ( i know this will be my downfall) and i am pretty sure there are no meat coated gluten/carb free and unprocessed potatoe chips on the market yet....suggestions would be helpful
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a whirl (not the "midsection inches lost" part, though). Do we have specific guidelines? Strict paleo?
ReplyDeleteBrendaelo, how about hard boiled eggs...snap peas...nuts...maybe we can have a jerky/pemmican/dehydrating party. Here are some good ideas, some of which surprisingly look tasty:

One snack I love is Nut Butter balls! Mix equal parts almond butter and coconut oil, then add in some cocoa powder, and just a little bit of honey. Form this concoction into balls (messy!) and roll in chopped nuts or dried unsweetened coconut. Store in fridge. They make a great little treat with lots of fat for energy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

Wow thanks Ryan and Rebecca. This "Paleo Thing" is starting to look up. I am getting excited to go shopping this weekend and attempt some of these new recipes. Thanks again guys
ReplyDeleteDarci--I think Ryan and Rebecca should both get 100 points for these awesome suggestions
Challange me up im in. I want to be there to pick the winner...can't wait.
ReplyDeleteSince my name appeared on the whiteboard at the gym, I guess I have no choice...
ReplyDeleteSign me up (with my consent this time!)
When are we doing the benchmark?
And when you say "midsection" do you mean belly-button level, or the lower, less trim portion of my midsection?
OK, I'm gonna do it Darcy. I will try to live without peanut M&Ms for 6 weeks - while I try to write papers. I'm hoping Rebecca's Nut Butter Balls take care of that craving.
ReplyDeleteUm...Rebecca...I practically ran home from work on Tuesday night and made the nut butter balls. Yum. They do taste very fatty (in a good way). The "dough" (?) was quite runny and I had to refrigerate it before I formed it into balls (I might use a bit less oil next time). Super easy and delicious.
ReplyDeleteok, after much consideration, glen and i are accepting the challenge :)
